Description : Together with Unilever and Daemeter Consulting, Widya Erti Indonesia conducted a Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) training program for independent oil palm farmers in Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau Province. The training activities include overall GAP training; Training of Trainers (ToT); and other training related to farmer needs and institutional support; and monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the training. Basically, this program is an effort to increase the capability of farmers in managing environmentally friendly oil palm plantations and ensuring the sustainability of farming.
Some of the significant impacts of this program include:
- From the 2017 to 2018 GAP training, approximately 1,400 trained farmers and 26 farmer trainers have participated in the ToT and facilitated Oil Palm Field Schools in Seberida and Batang Gansal sub-districts, Inhu district.
- The establishment of an association of oil palm farmers, named Karya Serumpun as a legal entity at Notary Roni Ermanto, S.H., M.Kn with number AHU-0007229.AH.01.07.YEAR 2019.
